Si le poison de l'orgueil habite en vous, tournez-vous vers l'Eucharistie. Et ce Pain, Qui est votre Dieu Se faisant humble et Se déguisant, vous apprendra l'humilité.
Si la fièvre de l'avarice fait rage en vous, nourrissez-vous de ce Pain; et il vous apprendra la générosité.
Si le vent glacial de la convoitise vous refroidit, hâtez-vous vers le Pain des Anges; et la charité fleurira en votre coeur.
Si vous sentez la morsure de l'intempérance, nourrissez-vous de la Chair et du Sang du Christ, Qui a pratiqué un contrôle de Lui-même héroïque pendant Sa vie terrestre; et vous retrouverez la tempérance.
Si vous êtes fainéant et paresseux pour la vie spirituelle, renforcez-vous avec cette céleste Nourriture; et vous grandirez en ferveur.
Et enfin, si vous vous sentez souillé par la fièvre de l'impureté, allez au banquet des Anges; et l'immaculée Chair du Christ vous rendra pur et chaste.

Als het gif van trots in je zwelt, wend u dan naar de Eucharistie, en dat brood, dat is uw God Die zich vernedert en vermomt, en je zult nederigheid leren. Als de koorts van egoïstische hebzucht woedt in je, voed u met dit Brood, en gij zult vrijgevigheid leren. Als de koude wind van begeerte in u raast, haast u naar het brood der engelen, en de liefde zal tot bloei komen in je hart. Als je voelt de jeuk van onmatigheid, voed u met het vlees en bloed van Christus, Die beoefende heldhaftige zelfbeheersing gedurende Zijn aardse leven, en je zal gematigd worden. Als je lui en traag over geestelijke dingen bent, versterk jezelf met dit hemelse voedsel, en gij zult vurig worden. Ten slotte, als je voelt dat je verschroeid wordt door de koorts van onzuiverheid, ga naar het banket van de Engelen, en de smetteloze vlees van Christus zal u zuiver en rein te maken.

If the poison of pride is swelling up in you, turn to the Eucharist; and that Bread, Which is your God humbling and disguising Himself, will teach you humility. If the fever of selfish greed rages in you, feed on this Bread; and you will learn generosity. If the cold wind of coveting withers you, hasten to the Bread of Angels; and charity will come to blossom in your heart. If you feel the itch of intemperance, nourish yourself with the Flesh and Blood of Christ, Who practiced heroic self-control during His earthly life; and you will become temperate. If you are lazy and sluggish about spiritual things, strengthen yourself with this heavenly Food; and you will grow fervent. Lastly, if you feel scorched by the fever of impurity, go to the banquet of the Angels; and the spotless Flesh of Christ will make you pure and chaste.
